Mixing Colors

Here is one of the color mixing activities we did this week. I got the idea at a fabulous blog: artfulparent.wordpress.com/ . It went so well for us and was a great time.

Simply mix 1 c cornstarch, 1/3 c sugar, & 4 c cold water in large pot. Heat and stir constantly. Once it begins to thicken, remove from heat but stir one more minute. Divide mixture into bowls and add food coloring: we did read, yellow and blue so we could make orange, green and purple. Once it cools, put two colors in each ziploc sandwich bag. Close and let the little ones squoosh and mix the colors. Then hang in the window to let the sun shine through!
And I can't wait to do some more projects I have spotted at her blog. . .
